The General Manager LASEMA, Mr Adesina Tiamiyu said the prompt response by emergency responders culminated to the rescue of fourteen victims from the collapsed building at No 9 Daddy Alaja Street, Oke Arin, Idumota, Lagos Island. According to him the "Agency received a distress call via the toll free number 767/112 on  Monday 29th of May, 2017  at about  7:00am  concerning a collapsed 3 storey building on the Island, which prompted the immediate activation of the Agency's Emergency Response Team and other responders which includes the Lagos State Ambulance Service, Lagos State Fire Service, Lagos State Building Control Agency, National Emergency Management Agency, Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to the scene of the incident.                                                       ...

Republican senator, Jon McCain has just made a rather bold statement against the Russian president, Vladimir Putin. McCain says Putin is the biggest threat to global security, even greater than Isis. Malta-based NGO, Migrant Offshore Aid Station, MOAS, has released statement on the Mediterranean tragedy in which over 30 African migrants including toddlers drowned. Read below: 24th May 2017 saw one of MOAS’ most tragic rescues to date. The kidnappers of six male students of the Igbonla Model School, Igbonla near Epe in Lagos state, have reduced the N1 billion ransom they initially asked parents of the students to pay. An elderly couple, Mr Reuben Akanbi, 70, and Mrs Victoria Akanbi, 68, have been strangled by unknown a‎ssailants in the Gbongan area of Osun state. With more than 80 million collective social media followers, platinum selling artists Eminem and Justin Timberlake helped raise just under $2.3 million in the last few days. A man who survived the Manchester Arena bomb attack,  Tony Walter, 52, was found dead hours after the devastating incident happened, last Monday night after the Ariana Grande concert. Walter was discovered at his home after failing to go to work. British police on Saturday morning, released CCTV images showing suicide bomber Salman Abedi on the night he attacked Manchester Arena killing 22 people, injuring several others. The photos released by police show attacker Abedi on the night of the bombing, wearing sneakers, jeans, a dark jacket and a baseball cap. Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River has granted a state pardon and freed up to 34 prisoners serving various jail terms at the Calabar prison to mark the 50th anniversary of the state. The UN Migration Agency (IOM) said  Friday  that 1,530 African migrants and refugees have so far died while crossing the Mediterranean sea in 2017. Three Nigerian scammers have been given jail sentences for defrauding victims they met on dating sites of tens of millions of dollars. Oladimeji Seun Ayelotan, 30, was sentenced to 95 years in prison; Rasaq Aderoju Raheem, 31, was sentenced to 115 years and Femi Alexander Mewase, 45, got 25 years in prison, according to a report by Infosecurity Magazine. Hundreds of travellers were left stranded when their flight was evacuated because a mobile hotspot named "Jihadi London" was detected before takeoff. The passengers were due to board the Thomson flight from the Mexican tourist resort of Cancun to London Gatwick, but extra security checks meant it couldn't leave the airport.
