Iconic singer David Bowie dies at 69 after battle with cancer Legendary English singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, arranger, painter, and actor, David Bowie has passed away, just two days after his 69th birthday. His spokesperson made the announcement through the singer's Facebook page Sunday evening, writing, " David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. Saudi Arabia executes Ethiopian woman convicted of murder An Ethiopian woman, Jinat Farid was found guilty of killing Ghalia Eida al-Harithi by striking her repeatedly with an axe as the victim knelt to perform Muslim prayers, the ministry said in a statement carried by state news agency, SPA. After killing Harithi, Farid stole two gold rings and an unspecified amount of money, the ministry said. She was executed in the western city of Taif. Read more »

DG of Nigeria Broadcasting Commission, Emeka Mba, arrested by EFCC The Director General of the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission NBC has been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over an alleged N15 billion fraud. According to Premium Times, sources at the antigraft agency say Mba is alleged to have conspired with some top directors to defraud the agency. He was arrested this morning and is currently being questioned by the EFCC operatives.
