12 people, including 11 children, lost their lives in a fire outbreak that destroyed a girls dormitory in Southern Turkey. The private dormitory housed 34 middle and high school students and is believed to be for girls who come from impoverished families in nearby villages that have no schools. American law enforcement is currently engaged in a stand off with protesters at Standing Rock in North Dakota. The protesters are against a government  decision to build an oil pipeline called the Dakota Access Pipeline through their land which will involve environmental degradation and the displacement of local people majority of whom are Native Americans.                                                                           Read more » Follow @cool_jist
