A 25-year-old man appeared in court yesterday, February 17, over her death as her troubled lifestyle was laid bare. McGraa, 36, was found dead at a flat in the city’s Union Terrace and yesterday, it emerged that she left her young son at her home in London to sell sex in the city on a two-day trip.  Read more »

Egypt orders closure of prominent human rights organisation Egypt has issued an order to close a prominent human rights organisation that documents complaints of torture in custody, the group said on Wednesday. The Nadeem Centre for the Rehabilitation of Victims of Violence, whose headquarters are in central Cairo, documents allegations of torture, death and medical negligence inside police stations and prisons. Dieziani Alison-Madueke's husband arrested by EFCC Husband of former Minister of Petroleum Resources Diezani Alison-Madueke has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over allegations of laundering more than $600,000 through his personal accounts. According to Channels TV, he was quizzed for many hours and was released on administrative bail. He is expected to return to the anti-graft agency headquarters later today.

South Dakota to pass an anti-transgender school bathroom bill South Dakota could soon become the first state in the US to pass an anti-transgender bill that bans trans students from using the bathroom or locker room that corresponds to their gender identity. The bill says "every restroom, locker room, and shower room located in a public elementary or secondary school that is designated for student use and is accessible by multiple students at the same time shall be designated for and used only by students of the same biological sex. U.S. Rights groups sue over 'Muslim-free' Oklahoma gun range Two U.S. activists groups filed a federal lawsuit on Wednesday against a rural Oklahoma gun range, arguing that it violated U.S. civil rights laws by posting a sign that said the business was "Muslim free" and barring a Muslim from shooting there.
