Former Somali journalist who worked for Al Shabaab sentenced to death for the murder of 5 journalists A Somali military court on Thursday, March 3, sentenced a former journalist and media officer for Islamist group Al-Shabaab to death for the assassination of his fellow journalists. The court ruled he should be executed by firing squad. Hassan Hanafi Haji, 30, helped the jihadi group in identifying possible targets among the journalists between 2007 and 2011. Read more »

Court denies Badeh’s bail application A Federal High Court in Abuja today denied the bail application filed by former Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh. Badeh is being detained by the EFCC over allegations of diverting N3.9billion Nigeria Airforce Funds while he was in office. He was arrested by EFCC operatives on February 8th. Badeh will be arraigned on March 7th.

Bobbi Kristina died from a combination of alcohol, drugs and drowning A U.S judge yesterday ruled that the autopsy report for late Bobbi Kristina Brown must be unsealed after a request by a news agency, WXIA, who wanted the records for a report on the heroin epidemic in Bobbi Kristina's upscale Atlanta neighborhood.. and now, the cause of death has been revealed... "I like Ted Cruz. I think he's very conservative, and a great constitutionalist, and a very articulate man. I haven't endorsed him or anything like that. Gov.Okorocha's aides  arrested by  EFCC  for allegedly pocketing N2bn bailout fund The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday, March 2, arrested three top officials of Imo State government for allegedly diverting the sum of N2billion bailout fund given to the state by the Federal Government for payment of salary arrears of the state’s civil servants. According to the statement by EFCC spokesman Wilson Uwujaren, the suspects are: Dr. Obi Paschal Chigozie, Principal Secretary to the Governor of Imo State, Uzoho Casmir, Director of Finance and Iheoma Kenneth, Treasurer. MTN Communications sets aside $600m to settle dispute with Nigerian govt South African Mobile Telecommunications company MTN say they have set aside $600m to settle its dispute with the Nigerian government. The company announced on Thursday a surprise 5.2 percent increase in its dividend to 1,310 cents per share, posting a 50 percent drop in Annual profits and said while it has had a challenging year, it has set aside $600m to pay the Federal government after the company was issued a $3.9b fine for not ending sim card registration at the Nigerian Communications Commission stipulated time. Last week MTN made a 'good faith payment' of $250m towards reaching an amicable settlement after the telecommunications giant withdrew a court case challenging the FG's $3.9b fine.

Unity in diversity as Lion, tiger and bear live together in a Georgia animal shelter as 'siblings' for 15 years This is possible and has been the reality at the Noah's Ark Animal Shelter in Georgia for the past 15 years. Baloo the American black bear, Leo the African lion and Shere Khan the Bengal tiger were all rescued by the animal shelter when they were less than one year old and kept at the Georgia animal shelter to live together...and that has resulted in the most unlikely friendship. They've lived peacefully in their sanctuary for the past 15 years. Amazing!  See more photos »
