Collapsed building: LASEMA Prompt response responsible for rescue of 14 victims

The General Manager LASEMA, Mr Adesina Tiamiyu said the prompt response by emergency responders culminated to the rescue of fourteen victims from the collapsed building at No 9 Daddy Alaja Street, Oke Arin, Idumota, Lagos Island. According to him the "Agency received a distress call via the toll free number 767/112 on  Monday 29th of May, 2017  at about  7:00am  concerning a collapsed 3 storey building on the Island, which prompted the immediate activation of the Agency's Emergency Response Team and other responders which includes the Lagos State Ambulance Service, Lagos State Fire Service, Lagos State Building Control Agency, National Emergency Management Agency, Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to the scene of the incident.                                                                                                                               Read more » Follow @cool_jist

US Senator, John McCain says Vladimir Putin is a bigger threat to global security than ISIS

Republican senator, Jon McCain has just made a rather bold statement against the Russian president, Vladimir Putin. McCain says Putin is the biggest threat to global security, even greater than Isis. 29 people drowned after boat capsized in Mediterranean

Malta-based NGO, Migrant Offshore Aid Station, MOAS, has released statement on the Mediterranean tragedy in which over 30 African migrants including toddlers drowned. Read below: 24th May 2017 saw one of MOAS’ most tragic rescues to date. Lagos state students kidnappers reduce ransom

The kidnappers of six male students of the Igbonla Model School, Igbonla near Epe in Lagos state, have reduced the N1 billion ransom they initially asked parents of the students to pay. Adultery, Somali al-Shabaab terror group stone man to death

Al-Shabab Islamist fighters on Sunday, May 28, stoned a man to death as punishment for alleged adultery in Ramo Adey village in the south-central Bay region, Somalia. 44-year-old Dayow Mohamed Hassan was convicted by an Islamic court of being in an adulterous relationship with a woman and impregnating her, despite having two wives, Moalim Geedow, the regional governor representing the al Qaeda-linked insurgency said.                                                                                                                                          Read more » Follow @cool_jist
