Photo: First-ever surrogate baby in Vietnam born today... A 46-year-old woman, whose identity has not been released, today Friday, January 22, gave birth to the first-ever Vietnamese surrogate baby at a hospital in Hanoi. The baby girl, weighing 3.6kg, was born by C-section, performed by Deputy Minister of Health, Professor and Doctor Nguyen Viet Tien (pictured carrying the newborn baby today) when the surrogate mother was 38 weeks pregnant. "We had been waiting for this moment for ages and this made us burst with happiness," Nguyen Thi Ha, the real mother of the newborn, was quoted by newswire  VnExpress  as saying. Ha and her husband have been married for 18 years and she was diagnosed infertile three years into their marriage. In March 2015, Vietnam legalized surrogate pregnancy as it revised the Law on Marriage and Family, and the couple, based in the northern province of Ha Nam, would never miss such a precious chance. 4 Muslim men allege discrimination, file $9 million lawsuit After American Airlines encounter Four men from Brooklyn trying to fly home together after a few days in Toronto last December have filed a $9 million federal lawsuit alleging that they were racially profiled as Muslims and removed from an American Airlines flight because the captain felt uneasy.   According to New York Daily News, two of the four men are Bangladeshi American and Muslim, one is Arab American and Muslim, and one is Sikh American. Tunisia imposes nationwide curfew as protests spread Tunisia imposed a nationwide curfew Friday as protests that coincided with the Arab Spring anniversary spread from the nation’s impoverished heartland to the capital, leading to looting and property destruction. The indefinite curfew, announced by the Interior Ministry and scheduled to take effect at 8 p.m. local time Friday evening, followed five days of protests and rioting in several cities over widespread unemployment. Lai said this when he met with Online Publishers in Lagos today January 22nd, in continuation of his ongoing consultation with practitioners in the Information and Culture sector. He said all the government is asking for is that the media avoid sensationalizing their news "All we ask for, in return, is that you provide accurate information to the people, and avoid sensationalism and partisanship”he said.

Christopher Eugene Brooks was convicted of the capital murder of 23-year-old Jo Deann Campbell, a woman he met when they w orked  at a camp in upstate New York. Read more »

Singer Adele breaks yet another record Seems like everyone is saying Hi to Adele's Hello as the hit song has broken yet another record, this time on YouTube. The streaming service announced that the video for the song garnered one billion views  in 87 days  breaking the record for Psy's Gangnam style which needed 158 days, that's a rate of about 11 million a day. With the new feat, Adele becomes the first artist to register one billion YouTube views  within three months . Read more »

N780billion: MTN seeks out of court settlement with FG Telecommunications company, MTN, is seeking an out of court settlement over the N1.04 trillion fine the Federal government through the National Communications Commission, slammed on it last year for failing to deactivate 5.1 billion unregistered phone lines. MTN had initially dragged FG to court over the fine, arguing that it was outrageous. The Federal government had reduced the fine to N780 billion after the company complained. Read more »

Court grants Metuh N300m bail for allegedly tearing his statement to EFCC A Federal High Court in Abuja today granted PDP's National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, N300 million bail over allegations of destroying a statement he wrote in the EFCC head office. Metuh was arraigned in court by the EFCC yesterday January 21st on a two-count charge of destroying evidence to be used against him in a separate trial he is facing relating to the N2.1 billion arms deal fraud. The so much talked about Leonardo and Rihanna kiss photo finally surfaces online Actor Leonardo Dicaprio and Rihanna were rumoured to have had a fling last year. The A-listers were reportedly caught kissing in a club in France which the actor claimed was just an innocent 'hello kiss.' Whether innocent or not...the photo was just released online and shows Leo with his eyes closed as he leaned in for the kiss.

South Korean man acquitted for following North Korea on twitter Following North Korea on Twitter is not a crime, a South Korean court ruled Thursday.A 73-year-old South Korean man was accused of distributing pro-North Korea propaganda after he followed the country's official account on the social network. Javier Mascherano sentenced to jail over tax evasion charges  Javier Mascherano has been sentenced to a year in prison but is unlikely to ever serve time in jail, after a verdict was reached in his tax evasion case. NHS Psychiatrist in the UK sacked for recommending TB Joshua's Emmanuel TV to patient A NHS psychiatrist in the UK Dr Julius Awakame, 50, has been sacked after he advised a patient to get help from TB Joshua's 24-hour church TV channel, Emmanuel TV because she might be possessed by demonic 'special forces'.  According to UK Daily Mail, Dr Julius recorded medical notes diagnosing the woman as having a history of 'satanic ritual abuse' and said her issues could not be addressed by regular treatment.  Read more »

Celine Dion pays final respect to husband Grieving Celine Dion was seen crying as she and others paid their final respect to her late husband, RenéAngélil at open casket visitation at Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal yesterday Thursday Jan. 21st.  Angélil died of throat cancer at the age of 73 on Jan. 14. Borno Elders say those involved in arms deal scandal are the real Boko Haram sponsors The Borno Elders Forum has alleged that all those that have been accused of misappropriating $2.1 billion arms fund are the real sponsors of Boko Haram. The group made the allegation in a statement signed by their chairman, Ambassador Gaji Galtimari and released yesterday Jan. 21st.The statement  reads in part; “Much has been said about the sponsors of Boko Haram.
