Yinusa arraigned in court over Ese Oruru's abduction The young man who was arrested in connection with the abduction of 14 year old Ese Oruru from Bayelsa in August 2015, Yinusa Dahiru has been arraigned in court. He was arraigned today February 14th at the Federal High Court sitting in Yenagoa on a five-count charge of abduction, illicit sex and unlawful canal knowledge among others. Ese is said to be about 6 months pregnant, thus the unlawful canal knowledge charge.

Photo: Malaysian court upturns death sentence handed to a Nigerian drug trafficker A Malaysian Court of Appeal today March 8th upturned the death sentence handed down to a 31 year old Nigerian man identified as Abuchi Ngwoke, by a Malaysian High Court for trafficking 251.66 grammes of methamphetamine into Malaysia in May 2012. The Malaysian High Court had sentenced Abuchi to death after he was arrested at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport on May 23rd 2012 and taken to the Melaka General hospital where some precious stones he swallowed, tested positive for methamphetamine . Nike suspends Maria Sharapova after admitting to failed drugs test SportsWear manufacturing giant Nike have suspended Maria Sharapova's $50m deal after the Russian athlete admitted to using a banned drug. The WTA ranked World No. 7 admitted in her press conference yesterday that she had been using performance enhancer drug meldonium for the last 10 years as part of a doctor's prescription for health issues and didn't know it was banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency in December. According to the New York Daily News, Rose Amanor was arrested at Kennedy Airport after disembarking on a flight from Amsterdam last year. The search revealed she was travelling with three kilograms of heroin stuffed inside a haul of dry fish. She claimed her son duped her into carrying the bag into the city. Read more »

Man kills and buries his father in shallow grave in Anambra state The man pictured left allegedly killed and buried his own father in Umuajana Village Umudioka, Dunukofia LGA of Anambra state. The old man had gone missing for some days and his family had started looking for him. The shallow grave where the son buried him was discovered on Sunday March 6th, around 2pm after someone raised suspicion. Court remands Badeh in prison as EFCC accuse him of spending N878m on a shopping mall The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered former Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh, to be remanded in prison until his bail application is heard. The EFCC arraigned Badeh before Justice Okon Abang this morning. Badeh is standing trial on a 10-count charge ‎of‎ criminal breach of trust and corruption to the tune of N3.9 billion. In the charge sheet read in court today, Badeh is accused of spending N878 million being funds of the air force to build a shopping mall in Abuja. Woman loses cancer battle just ten days after marrying partner of 10 years New Day columnist, 32 year old Mo Akhtar has died from cancer only 10 days after getting married to her partner of 10 years, Farbaz, 40, in St Joseph’s Hospice in Hackney, England. Mo was diagnosed with lung cancer last July after a persistent cough. Her then partner saw an advert encouraging people not to ignore such symptoms and urged her to go to the hosipital.
